Tuesday, October 15, 2013 – Nashville - The 44th Annual Dove Awards returned to Nashville this year for a Tuesday night show at the Allen Arena at the Lipscomb University. Check out pictures (bottome) and video from the evening below and don’t forget to check out the  televised show on Monday, October 21, 2013 on UpTV at 8pm EDT.

The evening kicked off with the un-broadcasted  Pre-Show hosted by artists Jamie Grace, who’s new single “Beautiful Day” was recently released to stores, and Chris August. Here’s are some of the pre-show’s highlights…

Rock/Contemporary Album was won by Colton Dixon, a Tennessee native, of American Idol fame.

Funny-man Bone Hampton won the Humor Award. Gave us insight into where his name came from, then quickly asked us to keep it to ourselves. (SEE pics)

LeCrae won for the Rap/Hip Hop song of the year “Tell the World.” He is currently in the studio working on a free project to come out later this year called “Church Clothes 2″. (SEE pics/vid)

Canton Junction, winners of the Southern Gospel Album of the Year, explained where the group’s name originated. It was derived from the meaning of Canton, or 4 points of a flag, so 4 vocalists joining forces. The group consists of members Mathew Hagee, Aaron Crabb, Tim Duncan and Shane McConnell.  Their group moto is “where good things come together.”

Tamela Mann wins for Traditional Gospel Song of the Year and gives us a tidbit that she will be launching her own clothing line for fuller figured women, in a partnership with Maria  Harper, who created her looks for the evening. (SEE pics/vid)

One award marked how hard it is to take the personal spirit and connection of music out of the business side, even for the Press. The press room erupted in applause as Praise and Worship Song of the Year went to Matt Redman for “10,000 Reasons.”

Newcomer, Tasha Cobbs, wins big with two Dove Awards for her single release rendition of song “Break Every Chain.”

Children’s Album of the Year (SEE vid)

Spanish Album if the Year went to Producers Andrew Crawford, Steve McPherson and Toni Romero of Hillsong Church.  The album “Global Project in Espanol” was part of the larger “Global Project” which gave access to Hillsong’s songs in 9 languages in 9 countries. This was an amazing undertaking with simultaneous releases in each translation. (SEE pics/vid)

Jeff Bumgardner, Joel Lindsey and Daniel Simpson win for Musical of the Year, “Christ the Redeemer.” (SEE pics)

Terry Hemmings, President of Provident Films accepted the award for the Inspirational Film of the Year, “Courageous.” He also updated that they just wrapped the film “Mother’s Night Out,” a comedy by the Erwin Brothers (October Baby) which will be released on Mother’s Day 2014. (SEE pics/vid)

Crisis International spokeswomen AsOne, discussed their single “Be the Light.” They are pegged as the First interracial female duo in the history of music, comprised of writer/singer Lisa Wright and GMA Immerse Female Songwriter of the Year winner, Theresa Bailey. (SEE pics)

We were introduced to Red Roots, who are biological triplets.  Their Day One Records project will be released in January, “Triplicity” (3rd album) and they describe themselves as having a Country sound. (SEE pics)

Shonda Pierce, RIAA certified Best selling female comedy artist of all time, discussed her current tour “Girl Talk.” Shonda also teamed up with Bone Hampton throughout the evening to hilariously “fill time” in between segments. (SEE pics/vid)

For King and Country discussed one brothers recovery from a debilitating illness after a riveting closing performance on the awards. As young brothers, their Father, a concert promoter in Australia, moved whole family, pregnant wife and 6 kids to Nashville then shortly after lost job. Family came together, all did odd jobs and prayed. That time of faith launched sister Rebecca and then the family, into later successful careers music. (SEE pics/vid)
